Syllabus Overlap & Divergence
Physics and Chemistry overlap strongly — a Class 11 student can prepare for both in parallel. Divergence is in depth and question style, not in topics covered.

Statistically, a top-1000 rank in NEET is twice as hard to achieve as in JEE Main — simply because the pool is twice as large and a single wrong answer costs more rank slots at the top.
Difficulty — Question Level vs Competition Level
“Which is harder?” has two answers depending on what you mean:
- At the question paper level, JEE Main is harder. Multi-concept problems, tighter per-question time budget, numerical answer questions. NEET questions are largely single-concept and NCERT-derived.
- At the rank competition level, NEET is harder. 23 lakh applicants, single attempt, no dual-session safety net. A 695/720 might get AIR 100 one year and AIR 400 the next.
- At the qualifying-score level, both are comparable. Scoring 90 percentile (~top 1.2 lakh) in either exam requires broadly similar effort from a consistent prep baseline.

- Pick NEET if you have high NCERT recall fidelity, are drawn to biology and human systems, are OK with a 10-year training horizon before peak earning, and are willing to compete in a larger pool.
- Prepare for both only in Class 11 and early Class 12. By October of Class 12, commit to one.
