How this is computed

  1. 1Your rank (entered directly, prefiltered from the rank predictor, or derived from marks via the anchor model) is compared against closing ranks per institute and branch.
  2. 2Category and home-state adjustments use the multipliers documented in the dataset (e.g. NIT home-state quota).
  3. 3Matches are tiered Safe / Realistic / Reach by distance from the closing rank.
  4. 4Institute/branch matching uses publicly-reported JoSAA 2024 Round 6 (engineering) and MCC/state 2024 (medical) closing ranks — approximate, representative, not exhaustive. Verify on josaa.nic.in / mcc.nic.in before counselling.
Why a band, not a number

The band widens where anchors are sparse and where the years disagree. The center always sits on the latest verified year. Inputs beyond the highest published anchor clamp to it and the page says so — we never silently extrapolate.

Data sources
  • JoSAA 2025 Round 6 ORCR as compiled by jeecounselling.in (approximate)

All calculations stay in your browser — we never store or transmit the numbers you type. Official NTA results and JoSAA/MCC portals remain the authority for counselling decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this college predictor?

Matching uses publicly-reported 2024 JoSAA Round 6 General-OS closing ranks with documented category and home-state multipliers, plus spot-checked 2025 anchors shown on the tool (e.g. NIT Trichy CSE OS closed near 1,400 in JoSAA 2025 Round 6 per coaching-compiled ORCR data). It estimates eligibility tiers; it does not guarantee counselling outcomes. Verify on josaa.nic.in.

Can it start from my rank predictor result?

Yes — the rank predictor's results screen links here with your estimated AIR, category and home state prefilled via the URL. You can adjust everything after landing.

What does Safe / Realistic / Reach mean?

Safe = your rank is comfortably below the adjusted closing rank. Realistic = you are near it. Reach = you are above it with a smaller chance depending on 2026 fluctuations. Use the tiers to order your JoSAA choice list, then add more choices than the tool shows.

Does it include IITs?

No — IIT admission uses JEE Advanced rank, not JEE Main. This tool covers JoSAA institutes reachable via JEE Main: NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.

Are home-state quotas handled?

Yes for NITs: selecting your home state applies the documented HS multiplier (HS closing ranks are typically ~30% higher AIR than OS). IIITs and most GFTIs are all-India.

Is my data stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser — rank, marks, category and state are never sent anywhere.
